The Pat Stephens Scholarship for a legacy of kindness and service
Pat Stephens lived a life filled with purpose, creativity, and friendship. She found joy in sewing, quilting, and knitting, traveling to visit family and friends, fulfillment in writing and editing, volunteering for several nonprofits, and encouraging others in the pursuit of their dreams.
No one can remember Pat without a smile. You may remember her from the Book Exchange - she checked everyone in.
Pat died Sunday, October 5, 2025, leaving her family and friends stunned and grieving.
To honor Pat’s legacy of kindness and service, Pat’s family, along with Woman of Wonder, is establishing the Pat Stephens Scholarship Fund.
Applicants qualify with these core criteria:
Community Service – involvement in volunteer work, nonprofits, or participation in school or community projects.
Commitment to Women’s Empowerment – advocating and supporting women’s education, equity, or empowerment (this aligns with Pat’s work with Women of Wonder!)
There are some tiebreakers. They include:
Creative talent
Organizational skills
Love for nature, commitment to sustainability
Other Requirements
Of course, scholarship applicants will need to follow our regular application requirements: be a resident of Southwest Washington, attend an accredited college or university, provide two letters of recommendation, and submit page one of their FAFSA.
